In June 2023 Bank of Jamaica issued a family of notes printed on polymer substrate with a logo commemorative of the 60th Anniversary of Independence.

Now as stocks of notes need to be replenished it plans to order new notes, which will not have the commemorative logo.

Commercial banks are unhappy about the elimination of the logo, because it will force them to recalibrate their cash processing equipment to recognize the new notes without the commemorative logo. They claim that the process of testing de notes and recalibrating their counting machines and ATM’s will be high, and that it will take almost one year.
