This image of a new 50,000 francs banknote of Guinea Conakry appears today in a Facebook post by Jeûne éveillé 224’s.

While its design differs from the style of the recent notes of 10.000 and 20.000 francs dated 2018 and 2024, it seems to show most of the security features of a proper banknote, including a credible segmented security strip and a hologram.

Our friends Antje Bird and Uwe Henke have written to us pointing out details that make it clear that this is an A.I. based fantasy. The watermark at the lower right does not match that of the left of the front with the portrait of Pres. Doumbouya.
