The Bank of England has initiated the process of preparing a new £50 banknote (GBP-BoE50.4) to be issued after 2020. It will be produced on polymer, as were the other denominations of the new family.

The first step will be a character selection process, which will seek nominations from the public to select  the personalities which will appear in this notes.
