Bank of England announced today that the new polymer banknotes with the portrait of King Charles III will be placed in circulation on 5 June 2024.
The Bank will be offering mail exchange services from 5 June to 30 June. The public will be able to exchange up to GBP300 of current or old Bank of England notes for those with King Charles III portrait. This mail service will be available only for U.K. addresses.
The Bank of England counter at Threadneedle Street will offer from 5 to 11 June the same service with the same limit of GBP300.
After 12 June the Bank will revert to issuing recycled Queen Elizabeth II notes until stocks are exhausted.
