The Economic Community of West African States has launched a competition to name and design a new single currency, which is expected to be delivered in 2020.

ECOWAS includes these 14 countries: Benin, Burkina-Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo. Mauritania left in 2002.
