Danmarks Nationalbank is in the process of issuing improved versions of their current banknotes, which will have the same design and color of the current ones, but with upgraded security devices. All will be printed outside of Denmark. Because of the decrease in the usage of cash the bank has decided to outsource the production of currency and coins.
Designs and security details of the new banknotes will be unveiled immediately before the release date.
The first denomination to be released is the one of 500 kroner (DKK500.6B) which is being printed in France. It was to be released to circulation at this time, but because of COVID-19 disruption it is now scheduled to be issued toward the end of the year.
Because of this delay the supply of mint 500 kroner banknotes is limited, which may affect some ATM’s, which will dispense other denominations instead.
