On 2 December 2004 Danmarks Nationalbank will open three banknote exchange points in Aarhus, Odense and Copenhagen in collaboration with FOREX. Their addresses and hours of operation may be found at www.forexvaluta.dk.
They will redeem the banknotes of the series of 1944 until 2006 and the 1,000 Danish kroner of the series 2009, which are being retired, and will lose their legal tender status by 31 May 2006. Afterward these may be presented for redemption at the Danmark Nationalbank.

The service is available to individuals and businesses. Depending on the amount involved and status of the presenter (individual or business), payment will be made in cash or by transfer to a bank account.
Anti money laundering rules will be applied. Amounts over DKK5,000 can only be paid by transfer to a bank account.
