The new banknote of 100,000 pesos (COP100,000.1) is seldom found in circulation. The reasons for its scarcity are several:
- The new notes do not fit most ATMs.
- A relatively small number of notes were issued, amounting only to 1.3% of circulation.
- People tend to save them.
- Because of its relatively high face value (USD35.00) it is hard to use in small stores.
