Banco de Cabo Verde announced yesterday that it will issue on Friday 8 January 2021 a new 200 escudos banknote (CVE200.5) similar to the current polymer version (CVE200.4), but printed on cotton substrate.
The new note was created to have a uniform family of banknotes, all printed on cotton substrate.
The back of the note shows the Ilha do Fogo (Fire Island) volcano, where the physician and writer Henrique Teixeira da Sousa worked to establish public health structures.
Both the current polymer and the new paper versions will cocirculate.
