Last week the Banco Central de Bolivia provided a list of the banknotes of the B series destroyed or pillaged when the Military cargo plane transporting them crashed near the El Alto Airport.

David Espinoza, President of Banco Central de Bolivia, informed yesterday that as of Monday 16 March these banknotes of 10 (BOB10.2), 20 (BOB20.2) and 50 bolivianos (BOB50.2) of the Series B that are not in the list of serial numbers of those stolen or destroyed continue to be legal tender.

Individuals that prefer to exchange them for those of the Series A may take them to any bank, including the Central Bank.

The Central Bank has a stock of 30 million fit notes of the Series A.

It seems that foreign entities involved in currency exchange should refrain from selling these banknotes to travelers going to Bolivia, as it is most likely that, at least in the near future, many merchants will refrain from accepting these notes altogether.
