El mes próximo habrá unos $3000 millones de bonos en circulación en La Rioja

The Government of La Rioja has started circulating its new provincial banknotes denominated in “chachos.” This was the nickname of the provincial leader Angel Vicente Peñaloza.

They are valued at par with the Argentine peso, and come in denominations of 1,000; 2,000; 5,000; 10,000; 20,000 and 50,000 chachos.

While in the original design de name of the monetary unit was “Bono de cancelación de deudas”, the issued notes are expressed in “chachos.”

High rank government employees will receive, as part of their salary, 100,000 chachos, equal to USD110.00 at the official rate, and USD75 in the informal market.

Those of middle level will receive 50,000 chachos, also as parte of their salary, while lower level ones will receive a bonus in the same amount.

These notes are printed on paper, with advanced security features, which can be seen in the link below.
