The Argentine Federal Government named Pedro Gabriel Cavagnaro as Administrator of the S.E. Casa de Moneda de la Nación for 180 days.
It has been decided that the Casa de Moneda will no longer print banknotes. There are several unfulfilled contracts with the Banco Central de la República Argentina for notes of 1,000 and 2,000 pesos. These contracts have been cancelled, as inflation has made these notes redundant.
The printing of large denomination notes will be contracted with foreign sources.
Casa de Moneda will continue producing car plates, passports and other documents.
Casa de Moneda has asked all personnel in the banknote department to use their pending vacation days.
