While the Eastern Caribbean dollar is the official currency of Anguilla, United States dollars are widely preferred. It has been reported that many merchants will even refuse to accept them. Therefore it is preferrable to carry U.S. dollars and not to worry about obtaining E.C. dollars when travelling there.
