José de Lima Massano, Governor of the Banco Nacional de Angola, announced that the new family of notes to be issued soon will be printed on polymer substrate, which increases their security and durability.
It is not clear whether the new notes will replace the old ones as these deteriorate, or if the old ones will be retired and remain redeemable for the usual period of 10 years.
