La Rioja’s provincial alternative banknotes, the chachos, as BOCADES are popularly knows, may start circulating very soon.

The provincial government announced last week that these will be used to pay 10% to 15% of the June and July salaries of high level provincial employees.

The provincial government is negotiating its release with several institutions. Banco Rioja declared that it will not participate.
