The Bank of Mauritius is reminding the public that the paper banknotes of 2,000 rupees (MRU2,000.2) will cease to be legal tender at the end of January.

Up to that date these banknotes can be exchanged at any commercial bank, subject to restrictions for large amounts. Afterward they can only be redeemed at the offices of the Bank of Mauritius without time limit.
