The Reserve Bank of India is planning to improve the durability of its banknotes by applying a coat of varnish on them.

It plans to run a test with the denomination of 100 rupees banknotes (INR100.4b) to be issued in the near future.

In its Annual Report issued yesterday the Bank also mentions its intention to improve the marks to help identification of notes by sight impaired people.
